Phoebe Baskett
Teacher, Dayā Yoga
'Yoga extends far beyond the preliminary stage of asana (physical postures), unveiling ever deeper wisdom to those who approach their practice with sincerity and devotion. The outlook that a practitioner gains through their practice enables them to handle all manner of situations with equanamity.
My wish is to assist fellow practitioners through the development of their physical practice, to move from outward focus to inward focus. Starting with the establishment of discipline and awareness in ones daily life, the hope is to bring about greater harmony within oneself and ones surroundings.'
With over 6000 hours of teaching experience, Phoebe Baskett has been living and learning in India for the past 11 years. Based in Mumbai, she has created a large community of sincere students and conducts regular classes, events, and retreats.
A student of the Iyengar method, Phoebe has been practicing under the guidance and instruction of some of India's most esteemed and reputable teachers. Her greatest inspiration is Usha Devi ji, a Rishikesh based senior Iyengar teacher and loyal disciple of the late Guruji (BKS Iyengar).
'Ushaji's teachings have transformed my approach to asana practice and my understanding of the level of devotion and dedication required as a student. The Iyengar method may seem overly detailed to a newcomer, but when the mind is trained on the cultivation of steadiness in the body and the breath, a stillness is found - it is a meditation of kinds.’
In Mumbai she practices with renowned Iyengar teacher, Siddharth Bangera.
